Snowflake Challenge 2019 - Day One!
I’m participating for the first time in
snowflake_challenge which is an annual event that celebrates fandom.
Today’s question is: In your own space, talk about your Happy Place—the things that give you joy, calms you or keeps you sane. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I have different happy places, but in terms of fandom, I usually like to spend time following and talking to people with similar interests/views (whether that be on Tumblr, LJ etc). Recently I’ve joined Discord and I’m involved in a few chats where I’ve made quite a few new friends. What I like about fandom is that I can make friends with people similar interests and yet you talk about other stuff and you learn different things and develop new interests. I find that makes me happy being able to relate to other people.
With real life, I do have depression and anxiety so my happy places are being in my room, where I can be by myself (my parents always say I’m in my room, but I had to share with my sister until I was 19 years old so I’m making time up) and I can read a book (or fanfics), watch TV or my iPad, make icons or write fanfic. Also, I love being around children and find myself incredibly happy when I babysit my nephew. Sure, it’s tiring emotionally and physically, but spending quality time with him (or any children) gives me enormous amount of joy.
