So Doctor Who is finally back.....

OMFG OMFG OMFG!!!!That was one hell of a series beginner. I loved it so much! Seriously, I loved every minute of it.

I really loved seeing Rory/Amy being all domestic and married and just OMG finally! I knew that Amy was pregnant when the Doctor commented on her weight and I'm happy about that. Although they is some interesting speculation about that, which I won't mention in case people don't want to know.

OMFG River and Eleven being all flirty and that was just awesome! I ship these two though that scene where River opened up to Rory (more River/Rory scenes please!) made me cry! The whole concept of time travel is confusing, but its so sad that when River is falling in love with the Doctor he will eventually stop remembering her (because she is his future and he is her past).

I can't wait for next week's episode. To finally find out who that little girl is, what the deal is with those aliens etc etc!

I'd suggest starting with S5 before watching the S6 premiere (only 13 episodes), otherwise I fear the relationships and history will be too confusing (and most people agree that S5 is the easiest series to get into). =) If it helps, there's an adorable, adorable couple that you can ship... =P

I have no idea, but that seems to be the consensus. Apparently the S5 premiere does a much better job of introducing audiences to the Doctor and his world than S1 does, so even with all of those references, it's easier to introduce someone to DW through S5 and then go back.

Hmm, I suppose because of him explaining to the MOTW Prisoner Zero person? :s Perhaps, but on the other hand there's supposed to be some mystery around the Doctor, I like that we discover him along with Rose (those who don't know the Classic Who, and even Classic Who fans, since so much time has happened since Eight and we are trying to piece it together). *shrug*

I agree with Jen! It's better if you watch Series 5 at least because the characters that are in series 6 were introduced in series 5. A lot of characters in Merlin appear in Doctor Who too. Alex Price in 5x06 and Tom Hopper in 5x01!

It was REALLY a great episode -- probably my favorite series premiere yet! Of course it helps that for the first time in NewWho's history they didn't have to introduce a new character (counting S2 since the Doctor regenerated). They could just dive straight into an intricate plot and not worry about exposition. =D

Oooh that is a good point, re: the characters! Although on the other hand you have all the unexplained time jump nonsense which I find more confusing! :p

I can't think of my favorite season premiere, I think it might be season 4...but I love them all, really! Even "Rose" as cheesy as it was on first viewing, and still sort of is...

Yeah time travel is confusing and the theory that people have re: Amy being pregnant, is very confusing.

Season four was good! I'm a new fan to this show and the first episode I watched was Time of Angels in series 5. That was a good episode!

Lol, hey! :D Aw man, you watched it all out of order then? Did you think of season 5 any differently after going back and watching from the beginning, or have you still yet to see all of it?

Lol, I actually am not much of a fan of that epp, people wandering around for 40 minutes in a cave kind of bores me! :p And I didn't like the retcons on the angel mythology which ruined it I felt (though obviously if that's your first epp you wouldn't know that!) But whatever it takes to suck in new fans! ;)

I hope part two of the premiere will have a few answers...Moffat, you have some 'splaining to do! (Sadly I was fully expecting the second part to air on Easter, because I had heard something to that effect, such a disappointment...:/)

LOL I just commented that I haven't watched series 1. I watched one episode but couldn't watch Nine! No offense to the guy but I watch MS and DT and I couldn't warm to him.

I found that it didn't make any difference to how I saw series 5 after watching the rest. I think that I knew more about the Doctor and River. I knew more about the TADRIS which was good.

I watched Blink after I watched all of series 5 and that episode is great! Fantastic!

Moffat always has some explaining to do!

Which episode did you watch? You're REALLY missing out girl, season 1 is awesome, so many great moments, and lol in regards to your comment above obviously season 2 of DW is going to be harder to follow than season 5, but that's not the right comparison season, season 1 is! ;) I hope you wills someday give season 1 another chance, some really epic and touching stuff, and well, it's season 1, laying the foundations for the Doctor in NuWho (because of the Time War and such) and for Rose....and for Doctor/Rose! ;)

And okay well I was curious because one of my flisters who saw season 5 first at least felt differently once she saw all the other stuff NuWho had to offer (ie the different, more character-driven RTD era in seasons 1-4). But it all depends on one's tastes really...:)

S1 will forever make me flail for nostalgic and OMFG IT'S NINE I LOVE YOU WHY DID YOU L EAVE ME reasons, but it ... had some issues. =P Doesn't detract from my love for it, nonetheless.

S4 had a FANTASTIC premiere, but I really loved this one. It could just be a case of it being all new and shiny. That happens to me. =P

What issues, besides the Slitheen? O_o IDK, I feel like season 1 is actually one of the more solid seasons, when you look at the episodes, like in terms of writing and plots definitely better than much of season 2 (which sadly has Ten and Rose, but not such great plots/writing to support their epic win...:/).

I think I could never love this one as much because of the WTF/time jump factor and such (it doesn't feel as tight to me), though maybe I will like it more after I see part two...though I don't think it'd ever be a favorite for me. But you are a lot more invested in Amy/Rory and co than I am! ;)

It felt a lot more cheesy than the other series at times, and the visual quality wasn't as great. But otherwise it was loooooooove. S2 is actually my least favorite series, though. But my original comment was just in reference to 1x01 vs 5x01. =)

AMY/RORY IS M HEAAAAART. You know how I am about ships. =P They were all domestic-y and lovely! Honestly, everything else in the episode could've been utter crap and I probably wouldn't have noticed. XD I'm a horrible fan!

Lol, for me season 5 is my least favorite series easily (way more episodes I liked in season 2, and well when Doomsday is my favorite episode ever...;)), but sadly season 2 does come right above it for the moment...:/ It's kind of a shame, it starts out great, it ends epically, but kind of gets a little lost in the middle...O_o

Yeah, same (re: S2). I love, love, love the final few episodes, but the rest is pretty meh. Which is unfortunate since Billie and David made such a FANTASTIC pair. I feel like it's WRONG to have one of the best Doctor-Companion relationships fall victim to such a weak series. D=

I know! It's soooo sad! It's reminding me of a cross-over fic that someone wrote for me here! (Seriously a great fic that is!)

LOL those creatures are freaky, not scary, but weird! So I can handle them!

Can't wait for this week's episode though! More River/Amy/Rory please! They were so awesome together!

Speak for yourself, I found them to be rather scary, probably the most scary after the angels in season 3! (I didn't find them to be quite as scary in season 5 since they messed with the mythology and made them less so, IMO).
