Personal Update & Promo!

Well, it's been getting quite busy for me. The last few weeks of my uni holiday were filled with me babysitting my nephew, dealing with allergies which tire me out, and attending two of sister's baby showers (they are due a couple of weeks apart in April). Last week was particularly busy as I was emailed about my placement for this year and had a lot of certificates, clearances and modules I had to provide/submit/do for compliance. Some of them were not required the last time I did placement (like I had to do an online hand hygiene module), but the college my degree is under is now making all degrees/units have the same/similar requirements. It's kind of annoying because some of them (like the Hand Hygiene) are for more clinical degrees, but there's nothing I can do about it. I just have to do it.

The extreme hot weather has also not helped and I ended up doing my CPR training when it was over 40C, luckily I didn't have to do the full first aid (which is a whole day), and was only there for a few hours.

Uni is back this week and I'm looking forward to my topics. I'm doing Counselling and Positive Behaviour Support, as well as placement. I have to organised this placement, so I'm now starting the process of contacting places (my top choice is at a school) to inquiry about. For this placement (unlike the others) we have to do a project either focusing on policy, case management or the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme). Not sure what I'll be doing as it depends on what the places want and if uni agrees to it. My interests are varied, there's so many areas I'm interested in. I'm just hoping I get a good project and that it works out. I'm also hoping to do better with this placement, because while I passed the last one I had so many issues that affected how good it went. I passed, but it wasn't as good as my previous placement.

Not only do I have a lot going on uni wise, but I'm also about to start to see a new psychologist. As I'm looking into getting an NDIS plan, and my psychologist's area of expertise isn't disability, she referred me to another psychologist who is. Also, my sister who is a psychologist, mentioned that I should have an Autism assessment, so by seeing this new one I can see whether she thinks it's worthwhile and she can do it. That being said, if I do go ahead with having it done, the waiting list could be quite long. But I'll see what happens. I must say though, while I appreciated my sister's recommendation, I wish she told me why she thinks I should have one done as it would be helpful.

Hope everyone is well :)
